The Air Force Airport Commission voted to approve two one‑year agreements with MTSU covering use of a transient parking lot and a small office in the terminal.
Chad, an airport staff member, told the commission the parking agreement previously generated $10,000 over five years and had been adjusted for cost‑of‑living to $12,244 for the current term; the terminal office rent was adjusted to $2,664 for the year. “We have received an executed agreement from MTSU,” Chad said.
Chad described the parking lot as gravel and not well lit at night; staff noted paving in the surrounding area may include the lot as an additive alternate but that the lot was left gravel previously because future development was uncertain. The terminal office remains occupied only by a small 90‑square‑foot space used by a chief pilot for executive transport.
Commissioners approved both agreements in a roll call vote: Shelby (aye), Cannon (aye), Paul (aye), Bill (aye), Drew (aye) and Velasquez (aye). The action will be forwarded to city council for final approval as required by city contracting processes.
Chad described the one‑year terms as intended to preserve flexibility while MTSU’s relocation plans proceed and to allow the airport and city to reexamine lease terms once the larger relocation decisions are final.
