Stoner Economic Development Authority reappoints members to Tourism Advisory Committee

The Stoner Economic Development Authority voted 5-0 on May 5 to approve the consent docket and to appoint and reappoint members to the Tourism Advisory Committee, including terms that expire in June 2028.

The action came during the SEDA meeting when the presiding trustee moved to reappoint most members of the seven-member advisory panel and to confirm standing representatives. Vice Mayor Amy Jeloski will serve as the committee chair; Chris Norris will continue as the Visit Stillwater representative; Kyle Ray will continue as the Oklahoma State University representative; Bayfar Jahanseh was appointed as a new member; Christine Waits was reappointed to a three-year term; and Jay Martin was reappointed as the hotel/motel representative, with the reappointments described as three-year terms expiring in June 2028.

The presiding trustee said the Tourism Advisory Committee was empowered by this board in 2019 to advise the SEDA board of trustees on practices to encourage tourism, development and retention in Stillwater and that the panel had not met recently. The board explained that the Visit Stillwater and OSU seats are standing positions that those entities may fill or replace as they choose, and thus those seats do not always require reappointment by the board.

Board members approved the consent docket at the start of the meeting by voice vote and later voted 5-0 to make the tourism committee appointments.
