Harris County proclaims Aug. 3–9 Community Health Center Week and recognizes Valley Health Care System Inc.

Harris County commissioners on Tuesday presented a proclamation recognizing National Community Health Center Week, Aug. 3–9, and honored Valley Health Care System Incorporated for providing medical, dental and behavioral health services to underserved residents.
Chairman Rob Grant read the proclamation highlighting the center’s work and partnerships and presented the document to the organization’s representatives. “Valley Health Care System Incorporated has been a pillar of our community,” the proclamation states.
Dr. Asante Hiltz, who introduced himself as a representative of Valley Health Care System, thanked the board and said the clinic at 94 McCreary Road in Fortson is currently open Fridays by appointment and the group hopes to expand to daily hours as staffing allows. “We have been partnering with the Family Connections here in Harris County and other community partners to bring more resources to anyone in the county,” Hiltz said.
The proclamation and remarks emphasized prevention, chronic disease management and community partnerships as priorities. After the formal presentation, commissioners and the health center’s representatives posed for a photo.
Valley Health Care System distributed a flyer of events for community health center week and asked the county to help publicize the schedule.
