Superintendent Hirt presented a set of routine operational items that the board approved by roll call, including donations and several student travel requests.
Donations: The board approved receipt of backpacks and school supplies donated by Amcor for first graders and restocked classroom flags provided by Gerasauer, ProMedica and the local VFW post.
Trips: The board approved an overnight, out-of-state trip for FFA students (their national event) and a spring-break training trip for the varsity softball team; administrators said the trips are standard leadership and training opportunities and that fundraising or student payments cover travel costs when applicable.
Personnel: The board accepted the retirement of Tina Moses, described as a long-time math teacher who will retire at the end of the school year, and the resignation of Leah Estep. The board approved multiple hires, substitute lists, supplemental contracts for coaches and club advisors, special-event workers and a clinical fellowship mentor appointment for Jana Franks (speech and language therapist mentoring a new clinician). The board also removed an asterisk from Deborah Sorg's name after confirming her materials were complete, enabling full hire onto the substitute list.
Discussion vs. decision: All the donations, trips and personnel items were approved by roll call votes. Board members briefly discussed that focus-intervention tutor schedules and hours are set by building principals and that principals work with Mrs. Abernathy—s department to allocate tutor dollars.
Ending: The board approved the administrative slate of routine operational items and asked staff to continue coordinating schedules, transportation and staffing needs for approved activities.
