Several residents and a councilmember raised concerns Sept. 2 about a barricade on Scott Street that they said restricts access for people living on the block. The resident asked for the barrier’s removal, calling it “very rude to the residents” and saying people were moving the barricade themselves to access town more easily. City staff and council members responded that the barricades remain for safety while homes and infrastructure are still under construction and that sidewalks and other infrastructure must be completed before the barricades can be removed. Planning Director Brian Moore told council he had spoken with the builder and that the barricades would be removed once the builder completes the remaining work and sidewalks on both sides of the road. City Manager Hall and council members said they would emphasize the issue with the public-works lead when staff returns from vacation and provide residents with a timeline.
