The Arcata City Planning Commission on March 11 used its meeting to clarify and defer final decisions on a proposed community benefits program intended to accompany development in the city’s gateway and other infill areas.
Community Development Director David Loya told commissioners staff recommended using the meeting to “further clarify what all these items mean and exactly how they would be implemented” rather than finalize which benefits to keep. Loya also said the city received a Department of Conservation Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation (SALC) grant related to the gateway work and recommended including a framework to contribute to land trust conservation of nearby agricultural lands.
