A borough official told the council that the fire company will use the building at 2 South Springfield Road for training on two upcoming Monday evenings and that there will be no burning during those drills. The official said the department will use smoke machines and teach interior and roof operations. "They are providing insurance on their side for their members, and we're providing the insurance for the building itself," the official said. The borough will have John review the arrangements to ensure the borough is protected. The official also said the Slinky Monument associated with the site "is going to be wrapped up and put away until we get the construction done and put back so it doesn't get damaged." The demolition work and the fire training were presented as a staff update; no formal action or vote followed.
