The Nash County Board of Commissioners appointed Shamika (Shamika) Wade as interim tax administrator Sept. 8 following a closed-session discussion of personnel. County Manager presented the recommendation; Wade was sworn in at the meeting and commissioners unanimously voted to appoint her.
After the swearing-in, the board approved a separate motion directing the interim tax administrator to carry out the county’s tax collection duties for calendar year 2025. Commissioner Davis moved to charge the interim tax administrator with collection responsibilities; the motion passed unanimously.
Clerk of the Board administered the oath and county staff present celebrated the appointment. County officials said the appointment follows the resignation of the prior tax administrator and that further personnel matters would be handled in accordance with county policy and law.
