Jordan Learning Center nears opening; district reports 1,800 students used new Jordan Credit Center this summer

At the Aug. 12 study session Jordan School District staff updated the board on the Jordan Learning Center (JLC) renovation and on a new Jordan Credit Center that the district piloted this summer. Jordan Learning Center: Staff said the former retail space being repurposed as the Jordan Learning Center is nearing completion; the contractor is completing final punch‑list items and staff expect a certificate of occupancy imminently. The JLC will house multiple district programs and has flexible rooms that can be partitioned for multiple small groups and recorded instruction. Administrators said the space is designed to serve thousands of students and families through programs such as the district foundation, child development services and virtual school support. Jordan Credit Center (summer program): Staff reported approximately 1,800 students participated in the Jordan Credit Center this summer to earn high‑school credit through competency demonstrations and portfolios rather than a traditional seat‑based virtual class. The district said the program allowed students to earn credit within the district instead of relying on external “seat” providers; staff indicated demand exceeded expectations and that new staffing and enrollment processes were added to manage the volume. Why it matters: District leaders said JLC consolidates services, frees up space at schools the programs formerly occupied, and allows the district to retain instructional and support work that would otherwise be outsourced.
