A UC Davis Special Faculty Permit Committee recommended approval of Dr. Oguz as division chief of neuroradiology in the Department of Radiology at UC Davis School of Medicine, the committee reported. The recommendation will be forwarded to the full board at the August 2025 quarterly meeting.
Dr. Lowe presented Dr. Oguz’s background, saying she is originally from Turkey, served as a chair of ophthalmology at a medical school there, was a visiting professor at UC Davis in 2022, and previously received a special faculty permit from the committee. Dr. Lowe said she is now on the UC Davis faculty in radiology in the division of neuroradiology and has an international research profile in neuroradiology and pediatric neuroradiology.
When committee member Dr. Gulati asked about staffing, Dr. Lowe said UC Davis has “about 5 or 6 full time and a large number of part time neuroradiologists,” and that many institutions rely increasingly on teleradiology and part-time or volunteer faculty to provide 24-hour coverage.
The committee went into closed session to deliberate and returned to open session with Ms. Chung reporting the committee’s recommendation to approve the appointment. The transcript records no public comments on this agenda item.
The committee noted that its recommendations will be provided to the full board for action at the August 2025 quarterly meeting. The committee did not record a roll-call vote in open session for the recommendation.
