The City of Murfreesboro Grants Committee voted to schedule an informational session in October to hear from Murfreesboro Police Department personnel and other partner agencies about homelessness and related local service needs.
Why it matters: Committee members said an on-the-record briefing from first responders and service partners would give them current, boots-on-the-ground context as they review applications for programs that address homelessness, behavioral health, and related services.
The committee requested that staff arrange presentations from the Murfreesboro Police Department and from agencies that work with the city on outreach and behavioral-health response, such as the department’s co-responder partners. Committee members also suggested inviting representatives from United Way’s local continuum-of-care data work and other organizations that collect county-level homelessness data. The committee favored scheduling the session in October so the information would be fresh when members begin application review in mid-November.
The committee approved the motion by roll-call vote and asked staff to coordinate availability and circulate a meeting date to members. Committee members said the session should inform scoring by showing which interventions and providers are active in Murfreesboro and by identifying local service gaps.
Ending: Staff will arrange the October session, invite Murfreesboro Police Department representatives and partner agencies, and share meeting logistics with committee members.
