Centre County’s Children & Youth office told the Board of Commissioners on Aug. 29 that it is submitting its Act 01/2425 final fourth‑quarter reimbursement report and is requesting $2,862,318 from the Commonwealth for that submission.
Leanne (Children & Youth) said the final report brings the department to roughly 92% of its state allocation for fiscal year 2024–25. Commissioners voted to approve the Act 01/2425 report.
The department also presented a contract renewal with the Centre County Youth Services Bureau (YSB) covering July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The contract combines placement services (including a girls’ group home and supervised independent living) and non‑placement programs such as prevention, in‑home parenting services, reunification, and a transitional program serving juvenile probation‑officer referrals.
The submission listed state funding at $1,815,746 and a county share of $401,244 for the YSB contract; those amounts total $2,216,990. The board voted to add the YSB contract renewal to next week’s consent agenda for final approval.
During the presentation commissioners confirmed Children & Youth is designated as an essential service and discussed state funding timing; department staff said they have received July payments and expected the August payments the following week, and that continued payments help the department meet near‑term obligations.
Actions taken at today’s meeting were procedural (approval of the Act 01/2425 report and routing the YSB contract to the consent agenda) rather than final contract awards. The YSB renewal will appear on next week’s consent agenda for formal county approval and any required appropriation.
