Contractor reports exterior framing nearly complete at 2954 Main Street; trustees press for faster progress

The Village of East Troy heard Thursday that work on the Magnolia Stanford 20 project at 2954 Main Street is advancing but slower than some trustees expected. Victor, the project representative, told the board the exterior framing is essentially finished and that “we should have the sheathing done by the end of the week,” with window installation and roofing scheduled next so the building can be “dried in” in two to three weeks.

The update matters because trustees and a nearby resident worried prolonged exposure to the elements could cause water intrusion, mold and eventual condemnation of the structure if the building remains open to weather. A resident who identified himself as a carpenter offered to help on the project and said he was “more than happy to help.”

Board members and the contractor discussed pacing and budget constraints. Victor said the project has been “working at the pace that we can” and that much of the early framing work was handled without hiring outside crews. He said the contractor expects interior utility work and finishes to follow once the structure is dried in.

Trustees pressed for ways to increase the pace. The contractor said he has no “golden plan” to move substantially faster but that progress should accelerate now that framing is done. A trustee reiterated concern about potential mold growth and property deterioration if the exterior remains exposed.

No formal action was taken; the exchange was an informational update on an active private development that the village is monitoring.
