CRG Development asked the Hamilton County Drainage Board on Sept. 8 to vacate part of a drainage easement in downtown Westfield; the developer and county staff said the request is a revision limited to the project area rather than a full easement vacation.
David George, appearing for the developer, said the project will redirect on-site water into a regional pond that will outfall to the existing drain, leaving the remainder of the easement in force south of the project. “When our project goes in, all of that will be redirected into a regional pond,” David George said, describing the plan to manage drainage on-site before discharging to the regulated drain.
Staff said the surveyor’s office had reviewed the plans and was satisfied that on-site drainage would be accommodated. Because the board of commissioners is listed as a beneficiary on the recorded easement, the board handled the matter and approved a form that will require a commissioner's signature; the board voted to forward the matter to the board of commissioners for action and instructed staff to return the item to a future agenda as needed.
The board did not vacate the entire easement; staff and the developer said the legal description will reflect the partial revision.
