Sylvania planning and architectural boards adopt online meeting policy and ratify recent virtual meetings

Tim Burns, city of Sylvania zoning administrator, introduced the proposed policy and said it was modeled on existing language used by Lucas County and reflected state-level actions arising from pandemic-era rules. "Per this, we have to have a policy to be able to do it," Burns said, referencing recent state guidance. Board members moved, seconded and approved adoption of the policy for each board and then voted to ratify the prior two meetings as held online in accordance with the adopted policy.
The policy requires advance posting and gives staff procedures for hosting meetings in online formats and for publishing the recordings (the city posts meetings to YouTube). Board members discussed posting timelines (staff said regular meeting schedules are posted on the city website and that notices and links are available 72 hours in advance) and confirmed how the record will be preserved. The boards voted to adopt the policy and to ratify the June and July meetings; votes were recorded by voice and the chair announced approvals.
