The Sylvania City Council on Aug. 18 adopted a statement indicating the city will provide municipal services to a property on Acres Road that the owner has petitioned to annex into the city. Council approved Resolution 14‑2025 and staff said a public hearing is scheduled for Sept. 16.
Councilwoman Browning said the annexation petition was unanimous and described the required statement of services, which lists the municipal services the city will provide and a timeline for implementation. She said state law requires the city to include a timeline; the resolution’s language commits the city to provide listed services within six months to allow internal processing and coordination with existing township services. Browning also noted that after acceptance the property will be added to refuse and recycling accounts and the police CAD system will be updated.
Council approved the resolution as an emergency measure by voice vote. The public hearing on the annexation will be held Sept. 16, per the staff presentation.
