The Parkway School District Board of Education voted 7–0 on June 11 to approve the district’s 2025–26 expenditure budget of $378,168,000.
The budget message and the complete budget book accompany the approval, which allocates $107,948,384 to the general fund, $169,333,850 to the special revenue fund, $78,971,182 to the capital projects fund and $21,914,584 to the debt service fund. President Todd called for the roll call; board members voted in the affirmative and the motion carried 7–0.
The administration presented the budget book, a 157-page document described to the board as including a budget message, anticipated revenues and proposed expenditures. Carrie Nunn, chief financial officer, told the board the executive summary provides a concise view of the book and recommended members focus there for an overview of key assumptions and allocations. "I really encourage, if nothing else, to really focus in on that executive summary," Nunn said.
Board members commended the finance team for transparency and attention to long-term financial stability. Commenting on the presentation and the district’s financial position, one board member said Parkway’s condition reflected ongoing efforts to “save money and improve spending habits and practices.” The board noted the budget was the product of districtwide input, with administrators compiling expense recommendations and finance staff preparing revenue estimates.
The vote followed a standard motion and second. The roll call recorded the following votes: Vice President Hopper — yes; Mister Kilper — yes; Matt Franklin — yes; Mister Schindler — yes; Mister Seltzer — yes; Mister Spector — yes; Mister Todd — yes. The board recorded the motion as carried, 7–0.
The approved budget will be posted with the district’s public materials for the coming year and will guide expenditures beginning with the 2025–26 fiscal year.
