Richard Clement, a resident on Salmon Avenue near West Green Bay Road, told the Village of Beach Park board that his neighborhood has been overlooked for years and urged the village to add a stone shoulder and address drainage problems on Salmon, Blanchard and adjoining streets.
Clement said crews repaved the road and installed gravel shoulders on some side streets but did not put the planned two-foot shoulder on Salmon Avenue. He said he removed six inches of dirt from both sides of his driveway in anticipation of work, that ditch stumps and regrowth are blocking drainage, and that basements and yards back up after rain. He said he had contacted Pat from village staff and also attempted to work with the forest preserve (he named Diane Hewitt) but had received no return call.
Village staff acknowledged the concerns and said the item will be discussed by the public works committee and that staff would follow up with Clement after the meeting. Clement asked to be contacted and staff said they would provide a direction and follow-up once public-works staff have reviewed the matter.
