After returning from closed session on Aug. 18 the Gaston County Board of Education approved a two-year assistant principal contract for Nicole Caraniti and assigned her to Bessemer City High School.
Superintendent Dr. Houchard presented the recommendation: “I'd like to recommend for a 2 year assistant principal contract, Nicole Caraniti. I'd like to make a motion to accept that contract,” he said in closed session. The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
Procedure: The board entered closed session earlier in the meeting under the motion citing North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a)(3) and (a)(6) for attorney consultation and personnel matters. The hiring decision was recorded after the closed session with a unanimous vote to approve the contract.
Outcome: Nicole Caraniti will be assigned as an assistant principal at Bessemer City High School on a two-year contract; the board recorded the approval by unanimous vote.
