County reports dozens of new sewer connections as multiple residential developments progress

Delaware County environmental services reported several active sewer projects and 64 new sewer connections for August during the Aug. 18 commissioners session. Tiffany Mack, director of environmental services, said the county recorded 64 preliminary new connections in August — 48 residential single-family and 16 multifamily — bringing the 2025 total to about 1,049 new connections to date.

Mack reviewed active projects and subdivisions expected to connect to county sewers: Cheshire Mills (about 15 units by G Angelo Builders), Greens at North Star (Epcon, 35 units), Hyatts Meadows Section 3 (67 units), an Ohio State complex on Home Road (first phase ~61.5 units with a required 12-inch sewer extension to service a second phase under a joint agreement with Ohio State and Powell), Mercedes-Benz of Sunbury (sewer acceptance), North Star Ivywood (160 residential units) and Wood Criss Crossing Sections 6 and 7 (44 units).

The board also approved acceptance of a sanitary sewer easement from CFRKIS for an Epcon project on Concord Road and accepted other routine sewer business. The engineering and environmental staff said several of the developments are moving quickly and that the county’s budgeted connection targets remain on track.

What happens next: staff will proceed with required sewer extensions and agreements for the Ohio State complex and continue inspections and acceptance processes for the listed subdivisions. Commissioners did not voice opposition and voted to accept the easement.
