Chamber to host Sept. 10 Music in the Park event; board supports partnership and plans debrief

The Park Advisory Board on Sept. 2 endorsed a partnership with the local Chamber of Commerce for the Sept. 10 Music in the Park concert, in which the chamber will act as host, provide some complimentary snacks and offer business networking opportunities during the event.

Chelsea, a staff member, said the chamber’s interim director, Nicole Hasley, and chamber volunteers coordinated with city staff; the Lions Club and long‑time sponsor Pioneer have been invited to participate. Chelsea said she connected the chamber and Lions Club and that the Lions Club asked only to remain acknowledged for its traditional role: "If we can help out, let us know how," she said, summarizing the club's reply.

The board discussed logistics: staff will continue to provide the music program and fundraising jug, while the chamber will host networking aspects and supply some snacks. Pioneer asked to bring an information table and was welcomed. Volunteers were named for the event; board members noted Tyler and Seth had been identified as volunteers though one (Seth) had not yet confirmed.

Board members said the chamber hosting the mid‑season concert could draw a different audience — more of the business community — and augment sponsorship opportunities for the concert series. Chelsea suggested the board wait until after the event to debrief and decide whether to continue the chamber partnership as a recurring model.

Sound and equipment: staff said the city sound system is regularly loaned for events and will likely be available to the chamber; it is primarily used for announcements rather than band amplification.
