The Sierra Vista City Council voted Thursday to approve Ordinance 2025-004, setting the city's primary property tax levy for fiscal year 2026 at 0.1018 per $100 of assessed value. The city's finance staff estimated the levy will generate approximately $394,973 in revenue for the fiscal year.
City Finance staff member June told the council the required public hearing had been held July 24 and that no public comments had been received to date. "With council's approval of the ordinance, the rate will be set at 0.1018 per $100 of assessed value, which will generate an estimated $394,973 this fiscal year," June said.
The action finalizes a portion of the city's FY26 budgeting process. June also told the council the final budget book would be available to council in mid-October at the earliest.
Councilman Brian Myers moved approval of the ordinance; the motion passed after a voice vote with no recorded oppositions. Council members thanked staff for completing the budget process on schedule.
The ordinance follows the published public hearing and, per staff, implements the levy in accordance with state statute. The council did not receive public testimony opposing or amending the levy during the July hearing, and no amendments were proposed at Thursday's meeting.
The council's approval completes this step of the budget timeline; staff indicated additional budget materials will follow as the fiscal year approaches.
