Auditor: Rialto Unified’s 2023–24 financial statements receive unmodified opinion; federal compliance finding noted

Andrew Park, a partner with the district’s auditing firm, presented the Rialto Unified School District annual audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, telling the board the firm issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the district’s financial statements and on the Measure A and Measure Y bond funds, while identifying a federal compliance finding that requires corrective action.

“We are muy contentos de informarles que no hay nada que reportar aquí,” Park told the board, summarizing the financial-statement and state compliance sections as receiving a “no modificada” opinion. He said the federal compliance review was required because the district spent above a federal threshold and that one exception related to student records merited reporting: tracking of students who leave the district had not been corrected from the prior year’s finding. “Esto tiene que ver con grabar la información de estudiantes muy particulares ... cuando no asisten, hay que ver dónde es que van,” Park said, noting the issue was first reported for 2022–23 and remains unresolved into 2023–24.
