Farmington Board of Education members voted unanimously Aug. 12 to approve a tentative 2025–2027 bargaining agreement with the Farmington Education Association (FEA).
The contract, presented by Board member Mrs. Heinrich and seconded by Mr. Hall, was approved after brief discussion and expressions of appreciation for negotiating teams on both sides.
The board said the agreement represents a multi‑party effort to reach a “responsible, sustainable offer” that supports staff recruitment and retention. Board members who spoke during the motion thanked district negotiators and FEA representatives for working in good faith and noted the contract’s role in supporting teachers, especially at lower pay levels.
The board’s motion carried with no recorded oppositions or abstentions. Board leadership and district staff expressed particular appreciation for internal teams in business, human resources and instruction that participated in the talks.
The contract was described in public remarks as a multi‑year effort that aligns district priorities with a fiscally sustainable offer, though the board did not read the contract’s salary or benefit line items aloud during the meeting.
No appeals, amendments or roll call vote breakdowns were announced at the meeting beyond the chair’s confirmation that the motion passed.
Board members said they expect the agreement to help the district attract and retain teachers and noted it was the first multi‑subject bargaining cycle negotiated in over a decade.
The board did not schedule further public deliberation on the contract at the Aug. 12 meeting; implementation details and the finalized document will be handled through district administrative channels.
