The Safety Harbor City Commission voted 5-0 on Sept. 2 to ratify a successor collective bargaining agreement between the city and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2267, covering Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2028.
Michelle Podwitz, the city’s human resources director, told the commission the agreement is the product of negotiations that began June 17, 2025. The tentative agreement — which the union membership ratified Aug. 7 — contains modifications to about 28 articles of the existing contract. Podwitz recommended that the commission approve and ratify the successor contract.
A commissioner made a motion to ratify the agreement; the motion passed unanimously. No public comment was offered on the item during the meeting.
The ratification authorizes city staff to execute the contract and implement any operational changes tied to the negotiated terms. The agreement will be effective Oct. 1, 2025, and expire Sept. 30, 2028.
