Dana Routh, a city staff member, used the weekly update to list community events and volunteer opportunities happening in Kent through mid-September. Routh congratulated La Huerta Market on its "twentieth birthday," thanked organizers of neighborhood "Drinks in the Driveway" gatherings, and encouraged residents to attend several upcoming events.
Routh said tickets are on sale for the spotlight series produced by the Kent Arts Commission, running Oct. 11 through March 6. She announced Coffee with the Chief at Woods Coffee on Sept. 3 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., a final movie-in-the-park screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark at Carestone Park on Sept. 5 starting at dusk, and the Greater Kent Historical Society's Kent Hops Festival at the Breyer House on Sept. 6 from noon to 4 p.m.
Routh invited volunteers to the "Dive to Revive" cleanup at Lake Meridian on Sept. 13 and reminded residents that the Kent Farmers Market runs through Sept. 13. She described Drinks in the Driveway as "absolutely 1 of my favorite things," saying those neighborhood gatherings are "a fantastic opportunity to hear from our residents about the things that are on their mind."
The update was informational: it promoted events, thanked organizers and encouraged volunteer participation. No city policy changes, spending approvals or permit actions were announced in the update.
