The Town of Saint John Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance Aug. 6, 2025 to allow a second 47.06‑sq‑ft sign for a Tropical Smoothie Café tenant at 10081 Wicker Avenue Unit 12, exceeding the town’s 50‑sq‑ft per‑unit sign limit for multi‑tenant buildings.
On Aug. 6, 2025, the Town of Saint John Board of Zoning Appeals voted 3‑0 to allow a second tenant sign for Tropical Smoothie Café at 10081 Wicker Avenue, Unit 12. The request sought to exceed the town’s per‑unit sign allotment for a multi‑tenant building per STJMC 24‑555.
Owner representative Edward Jibran told the board the restaurant occupies an end‑cap unit that faces the entrance from Wicker Avenue and requested a secondary sign to improve visibility from the drive aisle. "We’re asking to put up a secondary sign so it can be seen from the drive as you go back to Anytime Fitness and some of the other facilities that are built around there," Jibran said. He said the secondary sign and the primary sign would be similar in size and would aid customers and traffic safety.
No letters of remonstrance or public opposition were received. The board recited the required findings of fact and approved the variance 3‑0. The applicant announced a grand opening planned for the weekend after Labor Day.
