OCPS partners with Concord Rents to offer housing perks to employees

Orange County Public Schools announced a workforce‑housing partnership with Concord Rents on Sept. 9 that will reserve select units for district employees and offer perks including discounted application fees and moving-cost assistance.

Superintendent José Vasquez introduced the partnership and thanked Concord Rents and the Apartment Association of Greater Orlando for helping connect the district to private landlords. John Michael Fernandez, director of local government affairs for the Apartment Association of Greater Orlando and a member of OCPS’s Workforce Housing Advisory Board, said Concord Rents manages 22 apartment communities across the county and that the company will provide OCPS employees a 50% discount on application fees and $250 off moving costs. Fernandez said select units will be reserved based on income eligibility and that a coupon code will be distributed to principals for staff use.

“Concord Rents currently manages 22 apartment communities with at least one located in each board member’s district,” Superintendent Vasquez said, thanking the company and the association for the partnership. Fernandez said the apartment association was pleased to connect OCPS with Concord Rents and hoped to replicate similar public–private partnerships across the region.

The district said the initiative is intended to expand affordable and attainable housing options for OCPS staff and to ease housing-related pressures that can affect teacher recruitment and retention. Staff said more detailed information and the coupon code would be distributed to school principals and employees through district channels.
