Seaford Mayor and Council appointed two residents recommended by regional leadership to serve on the newly created regional Police Chief’s Accountability Advisory Board representing the town of Blades.
Vice Mayor Dan Henderson moved to recommend the two appointments; Councilman Alan Quillen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Why it matters: The advisory board is intended to provide civilian oversight and input for regional policing matters. The two appointees, both described as retired and active in civic roles, will participate in the city’s Citizens Police Academy and have passed background checks required for the appointments.
Appointees and background
Chief Willey recommended Jerry Dorsey and Robert (Bob) Frankevich (transcript spelling approximated). The council packet and Chief Craft's remarks described Dorsey as a retired manager with volunteer involvement at the senior center, the downtown arts community and Blades police outreach; Frankevich was described as active in a homeowners association, Blades planning and zoning and police outreach.
Council action and training requirement
The council motion approved the recommendations; the transcript notes a Post requirement of 20 hours of law‑enforcement‑related training, with the Citizens Police Academy to provide much of that training, including ride‑alongs and other components. The appointees were confirmed as having cleared background checks and were said to be enrolled in the Citizens Police Academy, which begins the following day.
No dissenters were recorded; the appointment passed unanimously.
