City public-works staff announced mosquito fogging to begin Aug. 25 in the northern half of Solon and on Aug. 27 in the southern half after trap counts rose in recent weeks.
A service-department speaker said crews have been trapping and counting mosquitoes and that “over the last 2 weeks, these numbers had began to rise significantly, so we have scheduled mosquito fogging operations.” The northern half of the city will be treated Monday, Aug. 25, with Aug. 26 as a rain day; the southern half will be treated Wednesday, Aug. 27, with Aug. 28 as a rain day if needed. Treatments will begin at dusk, roughly 8 p.m., and continue until the half of the city is completed.
The announcement addressed scheduling and did not discuss pesticides used, property access or opt-out procedures. Residents seeking details were directed to contact city service staff.
