Board endorses Greater Florida Consortium’s 2026 legislative program

At the Sept. 9 meeting the St. Lucie County School Board voted to accept the Greater Florida Consortium of School Boards’ (GFCSB) proposed 2026 legislative program. Assistant/board staff described the program, which the consortium developed at a meeting in Pinellas County on Aug. 28–29. The written priorities the board was asked to accept include governance, funding, capital outlay, facilities, academics and accountability, and operations. Under the consortium bylaws explained at the meeting, member boards must accept or reject items in the program; no item may be amended by a member board. Board member Ingersoll moved to accept the program and board member Harley seconded. The board approved the GFCSB legislative program by a unanimous 5-0 vote.
