The Davenport Community School District Board of Education approved a $264,557.49 renewal for the Transition Alliance Program (TAP) partnership with Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
Director Hayes moved the TAP contract renewal and the motion was seconded. During discussion, a district staff member (asked to answer by the superintendent) reported program enrollment figures: Project SEARCH enrolls eight students this year (down from nine at initial start), while TAP caseloads fluctuate by campus and can include dozens of students. The staff member said last year the district identified roughly 129 students as potentially eligible for TAP services and that caseloads by campus average between about 90 and 125 students; Mid City was cited as having roughly 38 students in the TAP-related caseload.
The staff member explained the process for a student to access TAP: referral by an IEP team, scheduling a meeting with a TAP coordinator, signed consent forms (two forms: a pre-ETS agreement and a consent to share information with IVRS), and parent/student signatures. The board approved the contract renewal by voice vote.
