In the city manager's report at the Aug. 26 meeting, staff said a recent meeting with landfill engineers showed the city can move "quicker than what we originally might have thought" on landfill cell work as the current cell nears capacity. The manager said the city will continue to work with engineers and potential partners on next steps.
The manager also reported that the Sentinel project — previously uncertain in funding — has received full funding under recent legislation and is conducting survey work; staff said the Sentinel team canceled a town hall meeting because it coincided with a major local football event. The manager urged residents who see survey activity in the county to contact the communications center for verification.
Separately, the manager said the city had received interest from the Robert B. Doherty Foundation regarding the Northside Park project and that foundation representatives may visit the site next month. The report also covered routine updates on road projects, farmers markets, and housing builds.
No formal council action was requested; the items were informational updates the manager provided to the council.
