Council approves downtown revitalization reimbursements for Price Cream and other small businesses

The Sydney City Council on Aug. 26 approved reimbursements under the downtown revitalization grant program for small downtown businesses, including a reimbursement for Price Cream. Staff said the program follows state‑mandated procedures and that multiple businesses have used the 2024 grant, naming Fox Theater and Spring Creek Cleaning among recipients.

Economic development staff said some property owners are working through the program’s three‑bid requirement for eligible work such as brick pointing and that one property owner is expected to bring an application soon. The presenter said Price Cream has submitted its second reimbursement request and will likely submit additional claims as it nears its total project cost.

A councilmember moved to approve the reimbursement for Price Cream, the motion was seconded and passed. Staff said the reimbursements are routine steps required by the grant program and are brought to council for approval each time a payment is made to a property owner.
