Department of Defense committee honors Eagle Point SD 9 with Seventh Seal award, Freedom Award nomination noted

Representatives from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, visited the Eagle Point School District 9 work session on June 18 to present the district with the ESGR's Seventh Seal Award and to note its nomination for the national Freedom Award.
Mark Lamont and Dan Harrington of the ESGR read the nomination narrative and described the Freedom Award as the highest recognition presented by the Secretary of Defense to employers that support Guard and Reserve service members. They said Eagle Point was nominated by Jamie Hayden for the district's long-standing practices supporting employees who serve, such as helping find substitutes and partnering with local veterans' groups for Veterans Day events.
Lamont presented the Seventh Seal Award, which ESGR described as a state-level recognition presented at the discretion of state leadership for significant organizational achievement supporting the ESGR mission. District staff accepted the award and thanked presenters; Superintendent Kovacs and named staff were acknowledged during remarks.
No board action was required; the presentation recognized district practices that ESGR said promote a supportive climate for employees who serve in the Guard and Reserves.
