The Marshalltown board voted to approve a contract with Construct for the MHS east parking-lot replacement at the July 14 regular meeting. Randy Denham, the board secretary, presented the formal contract after the district previously accepted Construct's low bid at a special meeting on June 23.

During the meeting the board discussed the contractor's proposed start and duration; district staff reported Construct planned to begin work in the first week after contract finalization and estimated the work would take roughly two to three weeks, allowing for weather contingency and a required completion date before school starts. The board then moved, seconded and approved the contract; the motion carried unanimously, 6–0.

Why it matters: The MHS east lot project will give the high school renewed asphalt and improved vehicle access ahead of the academic year; board approval allows the contractor to finalize mobilization and scheduling.
