Nutrition services director Lynn (last name not specified) told trustees the current Hobart machine is 26 years old and the district sought four quotes for a similar flight-type replacement. Rapids of Marion submitted the lowest bid at $163,775.78 and has worked with the district on past projects, the presenter said.
The presenter said Hobart has availability to start installation in June with intended completion before the new school year. Board members voted unanimously to approve the quote and authorize staff to proceed with the purchase and installation.
Why it matters: The dish machine serves high-volume meal service at the high school; replacement is an operational capital need. Facilities and nutrition staff said the timing was appropriate to schedule work over the summer to avoid disruption to school meals.
