Head of school reports 1,901 students enrolled; staff to present at state charter conference and dates set for August calendar

Piedmont Community Charter School Head of School Miss Killen reported to the board that the school ended the year with 1,901 students and that the only compliance item submitted to the state Office of Charter Schools was the annual fire inspection, filed May 25.
Miss Killen gave the enrollment breakdown: 664 elementary students, 632 middle school students and 605 high school students, totaling 1,901.
She said members of the school's administrative team will attend the North Carolina Association of Charter Schools conference in July. Miss Wilson will lead a finance breakout session; Miss Counselor, Miss White and Miss Avery will lead or participate in other breakout sessions. Miss Killen said she served on the conference planning committee.
On the school calendar, Miss Killen listed staff workdays beginning Aug. 4, the first day of school on Aug. 13, board training with Tom Miller on Aug. 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the next board meeting on Aug. 19. She said new hires will be brought to the board in August; there was no personnel report for the current meeting.
