Members at the meeting voted to accept a $905,540 bid from All American Roofing and Sales Inc. for the Hagan project, the meeting record shows.
The approval followed a motion to accept the company’s bid and a roll-call vote in which Wheeler, Swint, Kilgore, Jones and Renner voted “aye.” The motion passed.
The item drew brief discussion about the procurement process rather than the contractor’s qualifications. One member said the board should receive procurement documents before voting so members can review what they are approving. “As board members, anytime we are approving something, we should be reviewing what we’re approving,” the member said. The speaker added that, after reviewing the company online during the meeting, they were comfortable approving the bid.
Another member thanked staff and colleagues for allowing time to review paperwork and for the work that led to the recommendation. “I just wanna thank everyone for postponing a day and allowing us to go through all the paperwork,” the speaker said.
A staff speaker said he would ensure the board receives the supporting documents in the future. “So totally understand from this day forward, we’ll make sure we have all those papers for you guys,” he said.
Board members reported that they checked the contractor’s online presence and references during the review: one member noted a 4.8 Google review rating, and another said they had contacted two different contractors who had worked with the firm and received favorable references.
After the roll call and passage of the motion, the meeting moved to adjournment and closed at 12:05 p.m., according to the record.
The record does not specify the meeting date, the funding source for the Hagan project, or further details of the contract award process such as bonding, insurance, or start/completion dates.
