The Williston Public School District 7 Board authorized the superintendent to obtain a title opinion for a parcel involved in a proposed land swap with the Wilson Parks and Recreation District that would more closely align ownership with current land use and support a proposed mini-golf project.
District staff described the parcel as a small corner of land near the Waterworld property and another triangle piece adjacent to Wilkinson Playground. "We're in conversations about the land swap between the school district and Wilson Parks and Recreation District," staff said, noting title opinions would identify which parcel is district property and which is park district property and resolve mismatched lines in prior leases.
Superintendent Dr. Jermanson asked for board permission to secure the title opinion; a board member moved, another seconded, and the motion passed on voice/roll-call. After the vote, Dr. Jermanson said staff would proceed to secure the title opinion and return to the board.
Board members asked whether surveys had been done; staff said city records and prior surveys exist and that the current work will "get the lines fixed to where they should be for the end uses." No final property transfer or agreement was approved; the board only authorized obtaining a title opinion to inform next steps.
Ending: Staff will return with the title opinion results to allow the board to consider any formal property-transfer or authorization actions.
