The Vidor ISD Board on July 14 approved a two-year purchase of IXL learning software for $71,250, to be funded with LEP/Title grant funds. Staff said IXL complements the district’s Bluebonnet math and reading curriculum and provides reading supports the district previously lacked.
Staff reported the district will continue Zearn alongside IXL for math during the two-year trial but hopes to evaluate whether IXL can replace Zearn as the math practice platform; IXL will serve both math and reading uses. The motion to approve the purchase was made by Mr. Camp, seconded by Mr. Harrington, and passed 7–0.
The district will monitor implementation and curriculum alignment over the two-year contract period.
