The Vidor ISD Board approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the Vidor Elementary construction project at its July 14 meeting, with the GMP including an alternate price for an added queuing lane. The motion passed 6–0 with one trustee recused from the vote.
Colin Garrett (project representative) told trustees that subcontractor proposals were accepted June 24, the GMP package includes the drawing list, specifications and addenda, and the procurement was advertised in local newspapers and digital plan rooms. Mr. Garrett said the project remains under budget even if the queue-lane alternate is accepted, and noted a $500,000 contingency allowance included in the overall program contingency total.
Trustee Miss Vincent announced she would recuse herself from the vote; the board then approved the GMP by voice vote with six trustees in favor and none opposed. Staff said plans have been submitted to the county for permitting and, if the notice to proceed is issued promptly, the projected completion date is December (year implied in project schedule).
