District staff told trustees on July 28 that key permits for Oak Forest Elementary and Vidar Middle School were received in early July and that foundation work is progressing.
A construction presenter said permits for the middle school and Oak Forest were received July 10, allowing concrete work to proceed. At Vidar Middle School contractors began drilling and pouring foundation piers; staff said Atlas, an independent testing firm, is inspecting every 6‑inch lift of fill and testing compaction before additional material is brought in. “Since the foundation is the most crucial part of any structure, a high level of scrutiny is applied throughout the entire process,” the presenter said.
For Oak Forest Elementary, the presenter reported the remaining interior work is a fire‑sprinkler installation and that crews were working extended hours to finish ceilings before staff and students return. The district has rebuilt a playground fence and completed a parent queuing lane that will be striped; the presenter said interior work should not disrupt instruction when school resumes.
The presenter also said Vidar Elementary mobilization will begin with parking‑lot work soon and that steel deliveries for middle‑school structures were expected in roughly six weeks. Staff asked trustees to direct construction questions to the district office; no action was required.
The update was informational and tied to the board’s approved bond construction program, which the board separately funded through the Series 2025 bond sales.
What happens next: contractors will continue foundation work, Atlas will perform required inspections and the district will monitor progress against the bond project schedule.
