The Alief ISD Board of Trustees on Aug. 26 voted to accept the district’s donation report listing $239,743.28 in gifts received in the month of August.
Administration presented the report in the consent portion of the meeting. The donations included $31,000 from Amazon to support Alief ISD programs; $25,000 from Urban STEM; $5,000 from First Community Credit Union; gifts from alumni and community partners; and smaller contributions from local businesses and nonprofit groups. The administration’s summary showed the grand total as $239,743.28.
The motion to accept the donation report was made by Trustee Lily Truong and seconded by Trustee Janet Spurlock. The board approved the report by voice and raised-hands vote; the tally was recorded as 6–0 with no abstentions.
The donations acceptance was listed as an agenda item and required no further board action beyond the vote to accept.
