Lake Travis ISD held a public hearing on the district's planned use of federal grant funds for 2025'26 and invited public feedback on how Title I, II, III, IV, IDEA and Perkins funds will be used.
Kathy Burbank, director of accountability and achievement and federal programs coordinator, summarized the consolidated ESSA allocation and explained program-specific uses: Title I will support schools with higher concentrations of economically disadvantaged students through instructional salaries, family engagement and homeless/pre-K services; Title II will fund teacher professional development and recruiting; Title III will support English learners and immigrant students with partial instructional salaries, certification support and summer programming; Title IV will fund well-rounded-education activities and supports; IDEA funds will support special education salaries, supplies and proportionate-share services; and Perkins funds will go to career-and-technical-education programs.
Burbank said the district solicits nonprofit partnerships each May and will accept community feedback for planning via district staff. The presenter said detailed planning amounts are the TEA-provided planning allocations and that the public may submit comments to the district contact provided in the hearing materials.
Why it matters: federal grants provide targeted funding for instructional support, teacher development, special-education services and career programs, shaping program offerings for students who qualify.
Administration closed the public hearing after giving the public an opportunity to speak; no public commenters addressed the grants during the hearing.
