District leadership presented the Dickinson ISD District Improvement Plan to the board, summarizing five district priorities and noting that campus improvement plans follow the same format.
The presenter said the district’s first priority is effective teaching and learning, emphasizing support and resources for teachers to deliver quality instruction and interventions. The second priority is a physically and emotionally safe, healthy and equitable environment, with specific student supports such as the Gator Clinic, Gator Wellness Center and homeless liaisons. The third priority focuses on family and community partnerships and communication expansion; the fourth is to recruit, develop and retain a diverse and effective staff through professional development and retention strategies; and the fifth priority covers operational services to support student learning and campus infrastructure.
Board members praised the principals and leadership for the plan. The presenter noted that principals were present and available to answer campus‑level questions and said campus plans mirror the district priorities. The presentation was informational; the board did not take formal action on the plan during the meeting.
