The Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees adopted a resolution July 21 honoring the life and service of Randy Rutan, an educator and longtime football coach who, the resolution says, 'invested his time, passion and leadership in the academic and personal development of students.' The resolution notes Rutan passed away on June 6, 2025, at age 86.

Superintendent Dr. Maria Gamel and Board President Dr. Denise Roche Davis presented the resolution, which recognizes Rutan’s influence in athletics and in instilling values such as discipline and integrity. Family members were invited forward as the board read the resolution and adopted it as a formal expression of the district’s condolences and appreciation.
