Cedar Hill ISD trustees voted unanimously July 21 to add 10 minutes to the daily school schedule for 2025–26. The district said the extra minutes will allow the district to 'bank' instructional time so fewer makeup days are required after weather closures.

Dr. Montgomery presented the proposal and explained that the additional minutes would increase the total annual minutes and yield several days of make‑up time for closures; the administration said transportation and contract impacts were reviewed and deemed manageable. Trustees asked about community input; administrators said surveys and prior outreach had shown community preference to avoid make‑up days on significant community dates such as Good Friday.

The motion to adopt the extended minutes was moved and seconded and passed unanimously.
