Weld County commissioners approved award of Fleet Services bid B2500090 for a crane body and installation to Maxi Truck Fitting for $109,145. Toby Taylor of Purchasing recommended the low bid as meeting specifications.

Commissioner Jason Maxey told the board he shares the company name with the bidder and said the firm was founded by some of his family members. He said he has no financial interest in the company and had no role in the bid, but recused himself from the vote “from a public perception standpoint.” The record shows Maxey announced the recusal before the roll call.

Commissioner Scott James moved to approve the bid and Commissioner Kevin Ross seconded. A roll call vote recorded four votes in favor, with Maxey recused. The board approved the award to Maxi Truck Fitting.

Purchasing staff later presented and the board approved a separate pavement-data collection services bid to Tiger Eye Engineering for $148,130 after determining lower bids did not meet specifications.
