Weld County commissioners adopt new commissioner-district map, certify prior hearing records
Summary
The Weld County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution adopting the Redistricting Advisory Committee's final commissioner-district plan and certified hearing records; county attorney outlined next steps for voter notifications and mapping.
The Weld County Board of Commissioners on a unanimous vote approved a resolution adopting the Redistricting Advisory Committee’s final map for commissioner district boundary lines and certified related hearing records. The resolution implements the advisory committee’s plan under the county’s redistricting process and instructs county staff to produce final maps and precinct lists so the clerk and recorder can notify voters before voter rolls are locked for the 2025 coordinated election. Assistant County Attorney Matt Conroy told commissioners the resolution is the legislative act that adopts the map and that staff will prepare exhibits, a precinct list of changed areas and coordinate voter notifications with the clerk and recorder. He said those steps are intended to finish before the voter database lock for the 2025 coordinated election. Commissioner James moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Peppler seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution. Earlier in the meeting the board also approved hearing certificates from July 23, 2025; that vote was moved by Commissioner Ross and seconded by Commissioner James. During the public comment period, resident Adam Dorito of LaSalle told the board he participated in the redistricting process and urged adoption of the plan, saying it protects “rural values” and representation across the county. His remarks were directed to the board and reflected personal views expressed at public comment. No motions to refer the resolution back or to delay adoption were recorded in the transcript. Conroy and county staff will proceed with producing the map exhibits and voter notifications described on the record.
